It's Diane von Furstenberg, Daaarling...

Diane von Furstenberg is the new face for American Express. While that may not sound all too exciting, you gotta love this commercial. The usually stiff Belgian designer shows an endearing side in this one minute clip. An added bonus is the background piano music, Opus 28, a beautiful display of Dustin O'Halloran's musical talents.

In Diane's memorable words, "If I have any role in what I do in fashion it's to make women feel more confident. To be confident makes you beautiful, makes you happy, makes you fulfilled".

Latex Leggings: Love 'em or Leave 'em

If you're like me, you thought the only one left wearing leggings was Lindsay Lohan. Turns out there's a new style of leggings that were once seen strutting down the London Fashion Week
Ready-to-Wear runway for fall 2008 and are now hitting the streets. Black latex leggings!
Topshop and Temperley London are among the top designer labels who incorporated this skin-tight look into their fall collection.

Temperley London Fall 2008:

If your willing to squeeze those stems into this rising trend, you can pick up a pair at SHOP INTUITION: Kova & T Black Latex Leggings ($113), or snag a major deal at American Apparel: Lamé Leggings ($40) which come in 12 colors!

What's your take on this fetish-inspired look?

A Strappy Spring is on the Way

When it comes to footwear, the Romans are ruling this spring. Whether the straps rise to the ankles or all the way up to the knees, gladiator sandals are strutting down the streets under the emerging sun.
If you haven't tried on a pair of these ancient inspired designs, you must know about their styling benefits! The caged straps tend to give the illusion of a slimmer foot, while the wide mid-line strap elongates the legs. Knee-high designs also allow you to appropriately satisfy that boot obsession during the warmer months.
Sienna Miller, Kate Moss, Nikki Hilton, and the Olsen twins are among the celebrity fashionistas who are currently embracing this trend.

Here are a few of my favorite gladiator picks!

Style Success

I always get excited when I come across someone who has successfully pulled off a bold fashion statement. The thought of a jumpsuit being a stylish outfit isn't generally shared by all, but when the design forces of Alice Temperley join the overwhelming beauty of actress, Thandie Newton, you might have to think twice.

Last Thursday, the 35-year-old British actress attended the after-party for the premiere of her new romantic comedy Run, Fat Boy, Run at the Rusty Knot in New York City. Thandie was decked in a Temperley London bovary lace jumpsuit from the Spring/Summer '08 collection. She looked absolutely stunning in this elegant, yet playful, red carpet look.
Enjoy these extra photos of Thandie in Temperley London!

Happy Birthday to Me!

While I slip into my new birthday dress and pig out on the delicious cake my roommates baked me, you can enjoy the sweet lyrics of Ben Lee's appropriately named song, Birthday Song.

Celeb Style Find for March

St. Patrick's Day is fast approaching. While the festivities typically include green-dyed bagels, clover adorned attire, and a heavy consumption of Guinness® Stout and Irish whiskey, you may be attending a party that doesn't require you to dress like a silly leprechaun. I recently came across some celebrity looks that could leave fellow party-goers green with envy.

Audrina Patridge, best friend of Lauren Conrad from The Hills, always seems to achieve a very polished, yet sexy, look at red carpet events. Last January, Patridge attended the Cloverfield premier at Paramount Studios with gal pal LC. She appropriately chose a clover green Phillip Lim pleated mini dress with a swirled rosette appliqué neckline and back.

This adorable Phillip Lim dress is currently available at Neiman Marcus!

If you have a more subtle look in mind, you might be interested in Patridge's ensemble that she wore to the Playboy's Super Saturday Night Party for Super Bowl XLII at Wild Horse in Phoenix, Arizona. The Hills vixen chose a Black Halo Jackie O cut-out dress with a cream crossover bodice, black form fitting skirt, and a silk contrast green banding under the bust. I especially love the 3-fabric button closure on the side.

This Black Halo dress is available at The Hip Chick.

Now, if you're looking to take the green to far extremes, you'll be happy to hear that Phillip Lim has recently created an eco-friendly line called Go Green Go. The line consists of ten designs that are made with undyed, untreated organic cotton and lined with sustainable silk. Another one of Lim's green efforts includes recyclable shopping bags that are for sale at his flagship store in SoHo. More information can be found at Barneys New York.

Here are some samples of the eco-friendly line.

Hilarious Fierceness

Fans of Project Runway must watch this hilarious skit that aired on SNL this past weekend! Amy Poehler is a spitting image of the sassy season 4 winner, Christian Siriano, in a new BravoTV show called "Fierce: The Hot Mess Makeover Show". The skit also included Bill Hader as Tim Gunn and guest host, Amy Adams, as Heidi Klum.

According to PageSix.com, Christian took the impersonation as a comical compliment. Christian admits to PageSix.com that the skit was "really really funny". Amy looked exactly like me which is kinda scary, but fabulous. The fact that they are even talking about me is so fierce, fabulous and flawless and is such an honor".

Christian Prevails!

The 21-year-old pint-size powerhouse, Christian Siriano, wins season 4 of Project Runway! This finale was definitely suspenseful. You instantly knew that the runway show was going to be tough to judge after an emotional Tim Gunn called for one last "gather round" to tell the three finalist,"I’m so proud of you; I don't have the adequate words to say it". He goes on further to say that the level of talent has never been this high in the past seasons.

And now for my own little recap of each collection.... I was completely torn between Jillian and Christian. While both had done such amazing work consistently throughout the season, there was a little bit of me that felt Christian wasn't ready for this win yet. It could be just because he's so young. While his attitude is a bit immature, his designs rival those of renowned designers in the fashion world today.

Jillian's collection was very feminine and detailed with a cozy equestrian-esque feeling....perfect for Fall '08. Of course this episode wouldn't be complete without her freaking out about the little things. As always, everything came together perfectly. I was definitely surprised to see her kicked off before Rami. Did anyone catch America's Next Top Model, Jaslene, dressed in Jillian's square-neck metallic mini?

Rami's show was a bit yawn-inducing. I think it was the music and the upsetting mix of colors. I wasn't too impressed with his collection until the final two gowns made their way down the runway. Holy hell....they were so stunning and so incredibly intricate. My favorite review of Rami's collection was made by previous contestant, Nick Verreos. It went something like this: "You want woven bitch?...Here it is."

Christian's show added that dramatic final punch. His looks were very structured, refined, and had an impressive amount of rich textures. His final gown was so complex with layers and layers of feathers; I wouldn't be surprise if it took him over a month to create. If Christian were to describe his final collection in one word, we all know he'd respond with "Fierce". Of course it was a benefit for Christian to have Posh as one of the judges. His collection summed up her high style completely.

In a Bravo TV interview, Christian was asked to describe his thoughts once he heard that Victoria Beckham was going to be a finale judge.

In the back of my head, I’m not going lie, I was like, “Victoria’s the judge. This is me.” She’s who I design for! She’s English, she’s from Europe, she’s very very into high fashion, and some of her favorite designers are McQueen and Chanel and Lagerfeld, you know? I knew there was no way she was not going to like what I did. It was amazing because she’s someone I would actually want to try to dress. I actually think I said when we first started and Bravo asked us all who we’d want to dress, I’m pretty sure I said Victoria Beckham.

Not only does Christian receive a new Saturn and $100,000 to start his own line, but his sassiness also won him $10,000 for being Bravo TV's "Fan Favorite". There's no doubt in my mind that he has prospective clients already lining up at his door. Congrats to Christian, the youngest designer to win Project Runway!

Swanky Shelter from Spring Showers

Kick that muddy snow to the curb. Springtime is just around the corner, but with all those budding crocuses comes spring showers. An easy way to brighten up those gloomy soggy days is to pop open a pretty print umbrella. I scoured the Internet and now I want to bring you some of my favorite finds.

Product Obsession Alert!

In a world full of glitzy lipgloss with serious shine, it's hard to believe that anyone remembers those classic lipstick tubes. bareMinerals has created a product that offers those puckered lips the color power of a lip stain and the smooth, moisturizing power of a lipstick.

Introducing, Bare Escentuals bareMinerals 100% Natural Lipcolor! Enclosed in a unique rubber grip tube, this lip color is infused with the purest minerals. Once applied, the natural waxes and exotic oils allow the lip color to immediately fuse with your true color. Unlike thick glosses which sit above your lips, this product sinks deep into your skin, giving the effect of a natural lively tint. Leaving those artificial dyes and chemical preservatives behind, this bareMinerals Lipcolor successfully hydrates all day and calms the senses with a hint of soothing lavender oil.

Sephora offers 15 decadent shades for $15 each. Rose Crêpe has become an award winning shade name in a Sephora.com customer vote. This shade is a definite must-have, but you can only find it at Sephora.com!

So ditch those sticky gunky glosses; they were always so disastrous on windy days anyways.
